AIDS Foundation of Chicago Launches Web Site CHICAGO -- The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) launched its new, interactive Web site, www.aidschicago.org, in its continuing effort to educate policymakers and the public about HIV/AIDS prevention and policy issues and to connect people living with HIV to a wide range of services and resources. Visitors to the site will find answers to questions about HIV/AIDS, a listing of HIV testing sites in the Chicago area and a comprehensive section of links to other HIV/AIDS related web sites in the "Prevention" section. The "HIV/AIDS Case Management" section details how case managers help people living with HIV. It includes organizations that provide case management services, listed by region, in the Chicago area. As Illinois' principal advocate for people living with or at risk for HIV, AFC provides online updates on local, state and federal AIDS policy issues. Site visitors may also join AFC's statewide advocacy network and receive regular e-mail, fax, or mail updates on pressing AIDS policy or legislative initiatives. Also included on the site is information about AFC's Service Providers Council and links to many of the 139 local member organizations that provide HIV/AIDS services and conduct HIV/AIDS education/prevention programs in the Chicago metropolitan area. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) was established in 1985 to provide central leadership in the fight against AIDS. AFC provides funding for local HIV care and prevention programs, advocates for sound AIDS policy and increased support for AIDS services, and through its Service Providers Council, develops and implements strategies for coordinating AIDS care and prevention services. ### |
