AIDS Foundation of Chicago Accepting Ornament Submissions for "All the Trimmings 2000" Holiday Boutique

The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) invites artists to donate ornaments for its seventh annual "All the Trimmings 2000" benefit. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. All proceeds from ornament sales will benefit HIV/AIDS care services, education and prevention programs supported by AFC.

"We started ‘All the Trimmings' in 1994 to honor World AIDS Day and acknowledge the effect the epidemic was having on the artistic community throughout the United States," said Anna Reahl, AFC Fundraising Events Manager. "Although the number of AIDS deaths is decreasing, the number of new AIDS cases is increasing at an alarming rate."

Last year, more than 100 artists nationwide donated nearly 2,000 hand-crafted ornaments for the event. More than 600 guests attended "All the Trimmings 1999," raising a record-breaking $65,000 for AFC.

Submitted ornaments should be 8 inches in diameter, ready to hang, and include a suggested retail price. Submissions must be received by Nov. 21. Mail to: "All the Trimmings 2000," AIDS Foundation of Chicago, 411 S. Wells #300, Chicago, IL, 60607. Questions should be directed to Anna Reahl, 312-922-2322, ext. 322.

"All the Trimmings 2000" ornament sale and holiday boutique will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Funds raised through "All the Trimmings 2000" will support the AIDS Foundation of Chicago's grant-making program, which, since 1988, has provided more than $9.5 million to support AIDS care, prevention, education and advocacy projects throughout the Chicago area. Established in 1985 to coordinate local response to the epidemic, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago is the largest source of philanthropic support for AIDS programs in the Midwest.
