About AFC: Program/Research Internship

The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is seeking a responsible and motivated individual to work as a Program Research Intern.

Reporting to a Program Coordinator or Program Manager within AFC's Program Department, the Program Research Intern will:

  • Conduct programmatic and informational research to share with agency partners and service consumers of the program the supervisor is responsible for
  • Assist the coordinator to identify gaps and conduct a geographically-based resource assessment for related services available for people living with HIV
  • Identify training and resource opportunities for agency partners and consumers of the program the supervisor is responsible for
  • Conduct program-appropriate research on funding and policy initiatives impacting people living with HIV/AIDS
  • With program staff, conduct quality assurance site visits to non-case management service providers and provide written reports of findings
  • As needed, assist with needs assessment through distribution of consumer surveys, scheduling consumer focus groups, reviewing records and preparing reports about service utilization.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree combined with some course work in clinical techniques, research and statistical methods. Qualified candidates will be able to devote a minimum of 8 weeks, and a minimum of 15 hours per week, subject to staff needs and intern availability. Interest and/or experience in HIV/AIDS services strongly preferred. Knowledge of the Internet, word processing, and spreadsheet programs very helpful.

Stipend: A stipend may be available to interns who meet specific requirements. Please inquire.
