About AFC: Internship Program

The Intern Program at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago  is built on a foundation of providing real world experience to help qualified applicants become better prepared as they pursue professional careers fighting HIV/AIDS and other social justice issues affecting our community. We are dedicated to providing practical applications in a work environment which enhance school-based learning already acquired, and to do so in a manner which promotes excellence now and into the future.

Internships are structured so that participants work closely with assigned staff to gain a working knowledge about HIV/AIDS issues, acquire skills in specific areas, work on critical assignments and projects, receive exposure to the overall organization, and gain first-hand experience working in a non-profit setting.

AFC's internships have been designed to create focused learning experiences. Each position is tailored to connect with projects currently underway, and provides a learning experience tied to contemporary issues and projects.

Internships become available periodically throughout the year, and are listed at http://www.aidsconnect.net. There are presently no internships open at this time.

The next round of internships will be with our Communications Department and should be available around September 1st.

Commitment Information:
In order to provide a quality learning experience, AFC requires a minimum commitment of eight consecutive weeks consisting  of at least 15 hours of involvement per week. Longer commitments are available and encouraged and can be discussed during the application process. We are willing to work with accepted interns to accommodate their classroom and other life responsibilities when scheduling.

For additional information please email: Interns@aidschicago.org
