LEAVE THIS MESSAGE: I am a constituent who cares about HIV/AIDS issues. Please support the governor's budget requests for increased funding for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and HIV prevention. BACKGROUND: This week, over a hundred AIDS advocates will participate in the 2004 HIV/AIDS Lobby Days in Springfield to inform lawmakers about the need for increased funding for HIV/AIDS programs and responsive policies and laws. You can take part in this year's Lobby Days by contacting your elected officials in Springfield today and urge them to support critical AIDS issues. Lobby Day participants will be advocating in support of the following key issues:· Governor Blagojevich's proposed increases of $3.1 million for the ADAP and $1 million or HIV prevention· Key Medicaid reforms needed to expand access for people living with HIV/AIDS · House Bill 4439 to protect low-income renters with public assistance from housing discrimination· House Bill 3857 to give people living with HIV/AIDS increased access to organ transplants· House Bill 6563 to ensure parents can designate the best possible guardian for their children· House Bill 4622 to standardize the disability definition for Medicaid.
