Living in the Heartland
This 208-page book chronicles the lives of people living with and impacted
by HIV/AIDS throughout the Midwest. The intimate stories reveal an exceptionally
diverse demographic from an eleven-state region including Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma,
and Wisconsin. "Taken as a whole," writes the Chicago Tribune, "they offer
a remarkable testament of how HIV has invaded and changed whole communities."
Nearly 20,000 copies of both first and second editions have been distributed
nationally.
Copies of the second edition of The Faces of AIDS: Living in the Heartland
are currently available for $17.25 each, including shipping and handling.
To order a copy, please contact Michael
Hunter, Project Coordinator, Chicago Department of Public Health.
