AFC Celebrates New HIV/AIDS Lottery Game

Governor Rod Blagojevich announced the launch of the nation’s first instant lottery game to benefit the fight against HIV/AIDS on Monday, Feb. 11. The Quality of Life Ticket, named “Red Ribbon Cash”, will be distributed at Illinois Lottery retail locations across the state beginning Friday, February 15. Each ticket will cost $2 and have four top prizes of $20,000. Proceeds will benefit services for people living with and at risk of HIV/AIDS.

AFC championed the legislation that created the new game in 2007 and presented bill sponsors State Sen. Jacqueline Collins (D-Chicago), State Rep. Karen Yarbrough (D-Maywood), and members of the Coalition for the Quality of Life with a leadership award at AFC’s annual meeting in November 2007. AFC urges all Illinoisans to spread the word about the new game.
