Gifts of Securities

Thank you for considering contributing to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago with a gift of securities. A gift of appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other securities can benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) while providing you with a charitable tax deduction. In addition, by making a gift of appreciated securities, you may avoid capital gains taxes.

In order to initiate a charitable securities transfer, call Cathy Holmgren at (312) 334-0930. She will inform you of our brokerage account information. You may then call or send a fax to your broker with the amount of shares you would like transferred to AFC.

You should be aware that it can take up to several weeks for the stock to be credited to our account and for us to receive notice. When we get notice that the stock has been received, we will generate an acknowledgment letter that includes the number of shares, stock name, and the date the stock was received. You will receive the value based on the number of shares and the date transferred out of your account. AFC encourages you to consult with your financial advisor when making a gift of stock.
