HIV Services Education: How to Get What You Need

Wednesday June 29, 2005 12:00 – 4:00 pm
at Garfield Park Conservatory's Community Room
300 N. Central Park Avenue, Chicago, IL

With more people becoming infected with HIV/AIDS, increased caseloads, flat and decreased funding for services; what was once available to help clients in their time of need may not be available in the near future. Learn about the array of services available, and what you may be eligible for!

Participants will focus on and gain understanding of the following:

  • Case Management: What it is, the types offered and how to access a case manager in your area.
  • Emergency Financial Assistance: A safety net for HIV Services clients when you’re at risk of losing a place to live or necessary utilities.
  • Transportation: Types of transportation assistance available to help clients get to medical, social service and legal appointments.
  • Housing: Working with Housing Advocates and applying for rental assistance.
  • Grievance Procedures: How to register a complaint. Who to talk to and what you need to say.
  • Advocacy: Funding has either been flat funded or decreased over the years. Discover advocacy tips and find out what you can do.
Lunch will be provided, spaces are limited, and RSVP is required. For more information or to RSVP for the Advocacy Forum, contact Sanford Gaylord at (312) 922-2322.

How to get there: Call the RTA at (773) 836-7000 or visit tripsweb.rtachicago.com for more information.
