AFC
Announces "Faith in Prevention" Grant Opportunity
The AIDS
Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity
to support congregations in reaching out to individuals living with or
at risk for HIV/AIDS.
AFC is calling for applications
for Faith in Prevention, an initiative
to support faith-based organizations in their efforts to reduce the impact
of HIV and AIDS on the health of African-American men and women in Chicago.
AFC is seeking to support leadership and collaboration among faith-based
organizations to promote prevention education and awareness in these communities.
Interested
faith-based organizations must attend a Bidders' Conference
for the Faith in Prevention initiative in order to apply for grant funds.
Mandatory
Bidders’ Conference for
Faith in Prevention Initiative
Tuesday, June 8, 2004
9:00 am—12:00 noon
AFC,
411 South Wells, 2nd Floor Conference Room
The Bidders’
Conference will serve as an opportunity to learn more about the initiative
and the expectations. At this bidders’ conference, participants will:
- Discuss
the impact of HIV in the African-American community and the role faith-based
organizations can provide in the fight against AIDS.
- Become
informed of the expected roles and responsibilities of the selected
faith-based leaders
- Develop
a plan to effectively respond to the request for applications
Funded churches
and organizations in the Faith in Prevention Initiative will be expected
to participate in ongoing meetings and training workshops sponsored by
AFC and other partners in order to develop each congregation’s response
to the AIDS crisis within their respective church/faith-based organization’s
structure and activities. Attendance at the conference does not require
that your organization will definitely apply for the initiative. However,
only those agencies represented at the meeting will be eligible to compete
for Initiative funding.
