While the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is better positioned than ever before to end new infections. Almost 1,000 people in Chicago receive the news they are HIV positive each year. AFC will continue to develop and lead prevention efforts until the HIV infection rate is zero. Additionally there are 45,000 people living with HIV in Illinois who will need resources to ensure they stay healthy. By supporting AFC through your estate plans, you are establishing a philanthropic legacy that will continue to provide care and prevention services to individuals living with, affected by, and vulnerable to HIV and AIDS in the Chicago metropolitan area.

The Sable Sherer Legacy Society recognizes individuals who have included AFC in their estate plans. Sable Sherer Legacy Society members receive the following benefits:
There are a variety of ways to support the AFC through your estate plans, and each option has its own tax benefits. Informed decisions about your estate planning options can help you ensure that you have provided for yourself, your family and your loved ones while also supporting AFC. AFC encourages you to consult with an estate-planning professional when considering a planned gift.
A bequest is an easy but important way for you to ensure that your assets are distributed the way you wish. You can designate AFC as the recipient of a cash gift, a percentage, or residual remainder of your estate or living trust. You can also designate how your bequest will be used by restricting the funds to support a particular program.
Bequest sample language includes:
I give, devise and bequeath ____(percentage or dollar amount) of my estate (or specific assets) for the benefit of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, FEIN 36-3412054, to be used for its general purposes.
Other options include: real estate, IRAs, insurance policies and personal property, gift annuities (immediate and deferred) and stock are considered planned gifts and may offer substantial tax advantages. A meaningful donation can be made by simply naming AFC as the beneficiary of an existing account or policy. For insurance policies, make sure to name AFC as both the owner and the beneficiary in order for this to transfer smoothly; AFC can only accept paid-up policies.
