CDPH Presents Findings from Chicago HIV Behavorial Surveillance 2004-2007

In front of a large audience at AFC, Nik Prachand of the Chicago Department of Public Health presented findings from a multi-year federal surveillance project to describe HIV risk behaviors in Chicago.

View the entire presentation here (pdf).

Prachand described the results of the first-ever, population-based survey of demographic, social and behavioral characteristics associated with HIV infection in Chicago. The project, which remains ongoing, also assessed local use of HIV testing and prevention services.

The project, which is focused on men who have sex with men (MSM), injection drug users, and at-risk heterosexuals, uncovers important findings for HIV prevention practitioners and policymakers.

The meeting was sponsored by AFC’s Policy/Advocacy Committee, Prevention & Care Committee, and the Chicago Women & Girls HIV Prevention Coalition.
