AFC believes that all individuals must be valued, respected, supported and honored in meaningful and substantive ways. Our unwavering commitment is reflected in how we develop, implement and evaluate programs, services, policies and procedures; which enables our organizational success as measured through our mission, vision and strategic priorities.

Internships

AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) offers a variety of internships throughout the year, each of which is designed so students experience a real world environment connected with their academic learning. Those interested in pursuing a career in the nonprofit sector, social services, policy/advocacy, government relations, social media, HIV prevention, and other related areas will find an environment at AFC that offers focused learning and a quality internship experience.

Interns learn about contemporary issues related to AFC’s work, including how projects and programs make a difference in the lives of those affected by, living with, and vulnerable to HIV and other chronic conditions, including housing stability.

Internships become available throughout the year. We work with those selected to accommodate each person’s academic calendar and other responsibilities to create a flexible learning environment and schedule. Applicants must be currently or recently enrolled (within the past 6 months) in a degree-seeking program and should be at least 18 years old. AFC requires a commitment of at least 15 hours a week for a minimum of eight weeks, with some internships requiring longer minimum commitments. Internships are on a volunteer basis. Credit for academic programs may be available with some internships.
