The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+) honored the AIDS Foundation of Chicago with its Community Organization of the Year Award on July 8.

ADAP is short for AIDS Drug Assistance Program, which provides financial resources for people with low incomes, so they can afford HIV medications.
“The ADAP Advocacy Association is pleased to…recognize a truly distinguishable group of awardees who have demonstrated a keen interest in preserving access to care under the AIDS Drug Assistance Program,” said Brandon M. Macsata, CEO of aaa+.
The Annual ADAP Leadership Awards acknowledge individual, community, government, media, and corporate leaders who work to improve access to care and treatment under ADAP.
Other notable recipients included President Barack Obama, who was named ADAP Champion of the Year, and Sarah Childress, whose PBS-Frontline story, Why Someone with HIV Still Can’t Access Treatment, was named ADAP Media Story of the Year.
