Today, the U.S. Senate voted 51-50 to pass their version of the Budget Reconciliation bill, which includes the largest cut to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in our country’s history.

In a coordinated effort with House Republicans and President Trump, Senate Republicans compounded the worst aspects of an already dangerous bill that will kick millions off Medicaid and SNAP, prevent states from financing their portion of Medicaid costs, and penalize states and entities for providing care to vulnerable communities. This bill terminates health care for 17 million people – including thousands of people living with or impacted by HIV in Illinois – to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.

The bill now moves back to the U.S. House, where we have one more opportunity to put a stop to it before it’s voted on tomorrow. Take action right now by emailing your Illinois member of Congress to stop the Budget Reconciliation bill from reaching President Trump’s desk! Follow-up by calling the Capitol switchboard at 1-866-426-2631 and you will be routed to your member of Congress. Our message over the next 24 hours should be loud and clear: VOTE NO ON THE BUDGET RECONCILIATION BILL!
